OAKLAND, CA — Storefront Records, the independent label founded by three-time GRAMMY® winner Fantastic Negrito, is proud to announce its first new artist, Everything Velvet.

Alvarez was quietly making her mark behind the scenes at Storefront Records when fate intervened. Originally brought in to assist on a session as an engineer, she was asked by Negrito (Xavier Dphrepaulezz) to lay down a scratch vocal on a demo—a reimagined version of Outkast’s Hey Ya. The moment she began to sing, it was clear something powerful had been unearthed.

“There was an honesty and mystery in her voice that just froze the room,” says Dphrepaulezz. “It wasn’t planned. But when it happened, I knew immediately: this is Everything Velvet.”

The music wraps Marta’s mesmerizing voice in a swirl of moody textures, sultry grooves, and cinematic soul—otherworldly yet intimate, like stumbling into a secret late-night confession.

The debut single and EP from Everything Velvet will be released this summer, with more details to follow.
